Shimano PD-M770 XT SPD Pedal

October 28, 2008

What kind of racing? But sure, they are good for x-country, but not downhill of course. Also make sure you check out the Crank Brother's line of pedals. For x-country, nothing beats the Egg Beaters or Candy's.

Crank Brothers Candy SL Pedals

Crank Brothers Candy SL Pedals

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2008

I had one pair of Candy SL's that broke and were a little under two years old (within Manufacturer Warranty) but Crankbrothers took care of them no questions asked.

Best Derailleur Out There

Shimano XT RD-M772 Shadow Rear Derailleur

Shimano XT RD-M772 Shadow Rear Derailleur

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2008

I have this 2008 XT and also an XTR on my other bike. This one is by far the best derailleur I've ever ridden (besides dura-ace but that's road). Anyway this is well made, easy to tune, and the shifts are crisp and concise.

Nice but Fragile

Shimano XT 9 Speed Cassette

Shimano XT 9 Speed Cassette

Rating for this product: 4 October 21, 2008

I have gone through a couple XT cassettes which says two things. 1 - they are sweet, and they shift great. 2 - they are pretty fragile IMO. I had two cassettes and bent a cog on each one. And yes I know how to shift and I take care of my gear. But broken parts come with the territory on MTB. If my new one breaks, I will buy another one.

Shimano XT ST-M775 Hydraulic Brake Levers

Shimano XT ST-M775 Hydraulic Brake Levers

Rating for this product: 5 October 21, 2008

Reliable, durable, tunable, serviceable, what more can you ask from 2008 XT? I highly recommend this disk break set. The oil is a little spendy but what are you going to do. I have the full 2008 XT groupo and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of it.

Shimano XT RD-M770/M771 Rear Derailleur

October 15, 2008

The GS is a mid cage model and is designed to work with up to a 33 teeth rear cassette. The SGS is the long cage model and is designed to work with up to a 42 teeth rear cassette. If you're new to MTB and shifting, go with the long cage as you'll probably cross-shift a lot. Otherwise go with the mid-cage which is what most people run IMHO.

Great Pedal

Crank Brothers Candy SL Pedals

Crank Brothers Candy SL Pedals

Rating for this product: 5 September 26, 2008

I have 4 bikes. I have 4 sets of Candy SL's. I ride them both MTB and road bike. They are the best pedal made, and the SL's are worth the small premium over the C's.
