WTB WeirWolf Mountain Bike Tire

Built for aggressive, loose singletrack by Mark Weir himself, the WTB WeirWolf is a grippy, fast, all-mountain and XC tire with huge, hairy balls. Angled side claws grip sketchy corners, wide spacing sheds mud, and ramped center knobs roll smoothly without sacrificing traction in the clutch. Available in tubular and UST.

Bottom Line: Weir not afraid.

Years of racing on this tire

This tire rolls pretty fast ... especially given how well it grips. I keep trying new tires to see "what I'm missing". I always come back to this one. It's an excellent all around tire, it grips on sketchy terrain very well, it brakes exceedingly well, and it doesn't have too much rolling resistance. I've run both UST tubeless and tubed versions, and they all behave excellently.

The ONLY downside - is they *suck* big time for Oregon's clay-based mud. The mud sticks hard, and balls up like crazy. They might shed non clay-based mud well - but I don't have any of that around to test on. Clay mud - stay away from it with these tires.

They are the best tires I've used for 5 years running now, I have easily over 10,000 miles on these treads.

Would the 2.5 be a good front tire to pair with the Mutano 2.4

Would the 2.5 be a good front tire to pair with the Mutano 2.4 in the back? I currently have the Mutano 2.4 front/back but the back is really worn down so it's time for a new tire. I live in CO now where the trails are more loose on hardpack style. I have the Wierwolf front and MotoRaptor back on my other bike but I don't know how this Wierwolf/Mutano combo would compare.

Loving these tires!

I'm running these on front and back and they are great in mud, loose stuff and rocks. Haven't had any issues and I've put them through some hard rides.

I'm moving from Utah to Vermont this fall and need some new

I'm moving from Utah to Vermont this fall and need some new tires. Does anyone recommend these for trails in the North East? I ride a Yeti 575 and currently I have some Maxxis Minion DHf (stock tires) 26 x 2.35 on there. Beuller?

I'm from vt so I know how slick it can be sometimes, other times its so tacky and nice... anyway, while i haven't ridden it back east I had it in some really muddy stuff the other day, and it felt really good. I've only run it on the front, but great cornering and braking for sure.

Best loose over hard traction for front

By:
June 13, 2009

This tire changed my riding for the better. I use it up front for central AZ riding (loose over hard switchbacks, sandy washes and tracks, rocky trails). It tends to get a bit grabby in rock gardens given the aggressive side treads, but more than makes up for that downfall by being absolutely bomber when leaned over in sketchy, loose conditions. I've tried a lot of tires up front to find the right one for these types of conditions....this is it.
