Slip on the SixSixOne Evo d3o Elbow Pads, and meet the future of MTB protection. Underneath the Evo's molded Kevlar elbow panels lies a flexible substance called d3o, and it will change your opinion of soft shell padding. When you take a digger, the d3o foam becomes intelligent, sensing the impact and hardening instantly to disperse it across the pad instead of through your arm. The result is a light, flexy pad that provides almost as much protection as the stiff hardshell guards you have now. Sick.
Bottom Line: Holler at SixSixOne's futuristic vision.
These are nice, but a bit expensive and could used some tweaks.
I have small arms and I purchased smalls they still slide down. I think the issue comes from the very small velcro straps they use, the mesh system also can snag your skin and it's begging to rip. I have eaten it with them and they def do there job, the goo stuff inside hardens up on impact saving yourself a hefty doctor bill, if your interested in buying these make sure you dial in what size you need cause it can be a bit tricky.
I've had em for just under a year. I love the idea and think D30 will change a lot of padding setups, and hopefully drop in price. As with most of the 661 stuff I own the stitching and fabric are very poorly done. One seam just never cuts it, especially when its going through a soft neoprene material. They fit nicely, bunch up occasionally. I think the knee pads are great, but the grand canyon of a scar on my right elbow tells me that perhaps they are not the best suited for anything more than a soft dirt or sand crash. . . jagged rock lovers need not apply.
Having trouble deciding whether to buy Medium or Large size for these. How far past the elbow to these go up to and do they stretch? THanks in advance.
I decided on these pads as I no longer wore my cumbersome hard shell elbow guards because they were just too restrictive. I realized that going padless was a recipe for disaster, so after doing that for a few weeks I decided on these pads. They are uber comfortable and will take a decent hit, but will not provide as much protection as hard plastic. For me, comfort and flexibility are paramount when ripping and retaining control, so I chose these and have been very happy since even though I haven't taken a big digger on the elbow with them yet....yet.
Very nice! comfortable, not cold not warm, just perfect, the fabrics looks a little weak, and easy to tear, i did not crash it hard yet, but i guess this is a pay back for a comfort. I like this pads, money well spend!
The Six Six One Evo d3o Elbow Pad are comfortable, light and protective for mountain bikers of all sorts. I use (or at least bring) mine on almost every ride, cross-country, freeride, or straight downhill - they aren't too bulky to fit in the Camelbak, so why not at least bring them, right? The Six Six One Evo would also be a great elbow pad for dirt jumping or an urban assault.
Overall, the Evo d3o Elbow Pad is my #1 - I don't even notice them while I am riding, and when you take a fall, they give you all the protection need - seriously, with the new d3o padding, I feel as protected as when I used to wear my old, bulky hard-shell elbow pads. Highly recommended - in fact, I think it might be time to order some of the Evo d3o knee pads!
