I may sound dumb, but I am thinking of upgrading to hydraulic and I am wondering if this includes everything I will need? both front and rear?

It doesn't. This is just the levers. You need the rotors, calipers, and obviously the tubes and fluid.

Reliable, durable, tunable, serviceable, what more can you ask from 2008 XT? I highly recommend this disk break set. The oil is a little spendy but what are you going to do. I have the full 2008 XT groupo and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of it.

Dude... BB5 is a mechanical set. BB as in ball bearing as in mechanical brake.EDIT:If you mean a JUICY 5 hydro - then I would say no. Avid uses DOT based brake fluid whereas Shimano uses mineral oil for theirs
