Shimano America XT FC-M770/M760 Hollowtech II Crankset
To create the XT HollowTech II Crankset, Shimano incorporated the crank arms and bottom bracket into a single unit to give you increased rigidity while dropping weight. Plus, Shimano hollowed out the forged crank arms to further decrease weight without compromising the strength of this crankset for your all-terrain mountain bike. The carbon-steel composite middle ring sandwiched between aluminum inner and outer chainrings adds to the life of your XT Crankset and increases rigidity for improved shifting and power.
Bottom Line: Drop a few grams without dropping off your pedaling power.
Yes this item should fit a Scott Scale 60 You will need the Tools to get you existing Crank and BB out and an Integrated BB Wrench, Tension Cap Wrench and 5mm Allen to get this one in. You will most likely have to adjust your Frt Der and if you are not comfy with this you may want to take the whole thing to a shop.

I have used these cranks for everything from XC to DH to 4X and they rock. They are super light, really stiff, and won't cost you an arm and a leg. I used mine for 2 years on my mountaincross race bike with no maintenance what-so-ever! They fit all 68/73 mm BB shells and come in a plethora of sizes from 165-180mm. Get em' and you won't regret it.
Does anyone know if the older chainrings work on this crank? I have a brand new middle M760 chainring and was curious if I could use it on this crank once the middle ring wears down...
Total work horse of the Shimano line. If you don't want to sell a kidney to get XTR the XT's will get the job done. When riding I can't tell the difference between the two cranksets. Replacement rings are more affordable. The price of an outer XTR ring is almost the same price as this crankset.
Shopping for a new MTB cassette and cannot figure out the difference between the M760 and the M&&) except the price. Any reason to spend the extra money?
I've used this crank for a year now and I'm very pleased with it. It's incredibly strong and light. I use it for 50% XC and 50% FR and it has held up very well.
Yes. But be aware that there are 2 different thread types in BBs called English and Italian. Most frames these days utilize the English thread, while Italian manufacturers and older frames can sometimes utilize Italian. If you turn the right cup right to remove it, you're looking at an English BB.
Yes and no. You *can* get away with running this with an 8 speed cassette, but it's designed for a 9 speed chain. There's not worlds of difference, and it'd be generally fine, but an 8 speed chain would very slowly grind away at the teeth.Personally I prefer Truvativ/SRAM products, a Truvativ GXP setup with a Stylo 2.2 or 3.3 is a great way to go and generally cheaper. If you can swing upgrading the whole drivetrain, it might be time to look at that too.If you need more ideas or suggestions, feel free to drop me a line or just post another Q&A.mattf [at] bikemonkeyranch.com
