Shimano America SH-WM60 Mountain Bike Shoe - Women's - 2008
The Shimano SH-WM60 Women's Mountain Bike Shoe is the tool that will change you from recreational rider to technical singletrack queen. Three burly hook-and-loop straps lock you firmly onto the anatomically correct soleplate, delivering power and precision like you've never felt before. Long hot rides are a breeze, literally, thanks to breathable mesh and stretch-proof synthetic leather panel uppers, and the aggressive outsole grips loose terrain easily when you have to carry your bike.
Bottom Line: The dirtier you get on the trail, the clearer your mind becomes. Ommmmmmm.
Mt nephew will be 9 years old and he practices mountain bike, but he drives me crazy asking me to get one of the mountain bike shoes for him. I've been looking around and can't fine any webside that hold kid's sizes. Would you have any for kids?
This Women's Mountain Bike shoe is a good all-around comfortable shoe. The offset velcro straps hold tight without putting pressure on the top of the foot. The bit of neoprene in the middle of the edge of the tongue keeps the tongue from cutting into the front of my ankle. I haven't had a chance to wear them in warm weather, but they seem like they will breathe and be cool (the white will definately reflect the heat). A pair of booties also fit nicely over them.
I particpate in indoor spinning. Is there a specific shoe for this or do I purchase outdoor cycling shoes? What is SPF and do I need to buy cleats seperately. If so, where do I buy these.
Ailie, there is a Women's specific shoe - the Sidi Vigo Bike Spin Shoe - Women's. Mountain bike shoes will work for spin shoes. However, the Sidi Vigo has some nice advantages, like "non marking/maring" soles.(Won't mark the spin studio's floor with black marks). & to be honest, the style is a little better. White with the breast cancer ribbon donation. If all you intend to do is use your shoes for Spin class I might recomment the Sidi Vigo Bike Spin Shoe - Women's, a little more money, but certainly a more classy spin shoe. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Consider http://www.backcountry.com/store/SID0031/Sidi-Vigo-Bike-Spin-Shoe-Womens.html
Outdoor shoes are what you should use, these would work fine. MTB shoes are a bit easier to walk around in than road shoes. SPD stands for Shimano Pedal Dynamics, which is the type of cleat/pedal they are compatible with. These shoes do not come with cleats so you will need to pick up some of those as well. Check the bikes at the gym for the type of pedal, more than likely it will be an SPD. SPD cleats can be found here:http://www.backcountry.com/store/SHI0122/Shimano-America-SPD-Cleat-Sets.html?
