For basic bike protection in less-than-hardcore neighborhoods, the 4-foot Serfas LL-1 Combo Lock does the trick. This self-coiling cable has a vinyl coating to protect your bike's finish, and a four-digit barrel combination lock so you don't have to keep track of a key. Caveat cyclist: while the LL-1 is light, compact, and fine for quiet suburbs and neighborly towns across this great nation, bike thieves in any major city will find it about as hard to crack as a paper safe. Consider yourself cautioned, and leave your carbon frame at home.
Bottom Line: Light, cheap protection for safe ‘hoods and beater bikes.
It's a simple, yet effective lock to prevent someone else riding away with your $3000 bike. No one will steal your bike, unless they have a set of heavy-duty bolt cutters. For only $10... you can't go wrong.
