POC Spine Adaptive Tee - Men's - 2009

Give gravity a run for its money when you wear the POC Men’s Spine Adaptive Tee. Certified at Level 2 (‘High performance’) of the motorcycle standard EN 1621-2, the Spine helps you ride hard without sacrificing safety or performance. An extra layer of Visco-Elastic Polymer Dough (VPD) protects your spinal area by absorbing the impact and diffusing the energy of the hit gradually rather than exposing your back to extreme, sudden force. Fits and works great

I've tried a few different types of POC protective gear and it has all fit great. It's comfortable and keeps me safe. I usually hate putting on gear but this stuff I can handle

This is the 2nd piece of upper body protection I have tried as I have been DHing for about a year. I was forced to beef up my protection after taking a nasty one in my 661 Coresaver. Not to take away from the core saver, but it always rode up on me and didn't protect my lower spine as I would've liked. Due to a big hit I changed up my gear out of necessity. Now on to the Spine Tee, this thing is wicked comfortable, I got a L/XL and though it is tight on my torso(5'10" - 180lbs- I could lose about 15lbs) it helps keep it snug and in place. The spine protection is second to none and I cannot say out of experience in a crash yet, but the coverage, flexibility and running backwards into walls to test it out I can say it is the most comfortable, well covered sturdy spine protection I have used. The way it "molds" to your back you hardly notice it is there. If you have the cash(and prone to crash), it's money WELL spent.

the care tag indicates that you can only hand wash it upon removing the spine protector.
cold water + mild detergent seem to do the trick.

and here is a quote from info@pocskiusa.com on the same subject:

Pull the VPD out of the garment. Wash with soap and water and air dry.
The garment can be washed in a mesh bag on the gentle cycle. Air dry.

Awesome ventilation. It fits very close to skin so you forget you're even wearing it. Great chest, shoulder and back protection

I like having the choice to run whatever elbow pads I want.

The spine protector does ride high (to protect the upper vertebrae) but it will hit the backs of most helmets when you look up.

White is the dumbest color for anything used in downhilling. The fabric turns yellow-brown after 2 days on the trails. POC needs to switch to sand, light grey or black for the fabric color on these.

Dress for the crash

While I never really enjoy suiting up for DH sessions on a hot day, this upper body protection is one of the best I've ever worn. I enjoy the ability to wear elbow pads of my choice, and the option of removing them for long hikes and lift rides. The fit is comfortable and the tech-foam spine protection lends itself to more articulation leaning forward and back than some others I've tried.
Since I crash often, I've found this to be a smart piece to wear for every DH mission that could lead to carnage. Dressing for the crash is always the smart way to go.
