Tubes are the most often replaced component on your ride, so why pay mucho dinero for something you'll toss in a month? The Michelin Airstop Butyl Bike Tubes do the job well for less than a latte. Go ahead and keep a set of ultralight, ultra-spendy race tubes hanging around for when you hit the Tour or start training for the UCI Worlds, but until that happens, these Michelin tubes will work just fine.
Bottom Line: The only difference you'll notice is the money you saved.
These tubes are durable a little heavier but what you loose in weight you gain in durability. I have had them a little over a month and they have not lost a bit of air. I have hit some curbs and creek beds with them and they have yet to pop. All in All this is a good tube for me.
I got a bunch of flats with these, but it turns out I didn't have enough pressure in my tires which was causing pinch flats. With proper pressure, I haven't haven't had any problems.
I've ridden Bontrager 26 x 1.75-2.125 tubes for years at least until now. I've usually spent $5-$8 bucks a pop depending on the day on other tubes and I can get these for $4 and free shipping if I grab 'em with some other goodies. They're not the most compact but I'm usually not worried about that mtn biking. At 165 grams they're not the lightest, but they're not that bad when you're average tube is usually around 200 grams (for this size). They're great quality, super durable and sell for an excellent price. I'd recommend them to everyone and besides, at this price...why use a patch, just throw in a new tube!
These tubes are a great value. They are just as good as any other tubes out there and they are less expensive. Who needs a $6 tube when you can get a $4 tube that does the same thing?
You wouldn't take a road trip with out a spare, would you? For the price you can afford to grab a few of these, throw them in your messenger bag and hit the road.
