As the name implies, the Maxxis Swampthing Downhill Mountain Bike Tire excels in the loosest dirt and deepest mud you encounter on your local downhill trails. When you're going to the Shore in early spring or heading to the start gate after a heavy rain, make sure you have these Maxxis tires at the ready. In addition to the specially designed tread, these tires included Butyl sidewall reinforcements and 2-Ply rubber for bomber durability on the mankiest of the mank.

Tire Durometers: Higher the number the harder the compound, softer durometers grip better, but wear out faster
60a: Better traction, higher rolling resistance
ST or 42a: (Super Tacky) Highest levels of grip, fastest wearing – For downhill racing, freeride

have used these tires racing dh on some of the slickest,muddiest courses and they have been decent !!!!
(this coming from someone who has been sponsored by michelin and used their mud 3 tires ...)
overall a really good tire for nasty conditions.....
