DAKINE Cross X Bike Glove - Men's

Much like Sylvester Stallone in an arm wrestling tournament, the DAKINE Men's Cross X Glove goes over the top to keep your hands comfortable and protected during long rides out on the trail. This padded trail glove's mesh backpanel cuts down on clammy palms—good for Ferris, not good for you—while molded knuckle and finger protection fends off low hanging branches and hopping rocks. The Cross X Glove's neoprene cuff stays put no matter how hard you ride, and silicone gripper finger tips offer a little extra dexterity for your digits.

Bottom Line: Fitting your varied riding styles like a glove.

Big bang for the buck

By:
October 24, 2009

Purchased these a few months back for a mountain bike trip. Worked great, are comfortable, and have just the right amount of padding. Have now been using them for Cross season in some pretty bad conditions and they are still holding up great. For the price, I couldn't have asked for more.

Glove of choice

By:

These are a great all around glove, if you cannot decide on whether something with very light to no protection will be not enough and if carbon fiber knuckle protection may be too much, then this is your glove. I have owned 2 pairs now, both still in perfect working order(1 pair is 2 years old), the pair I bought recently did have a seam come undone where the extra palm padding is, but that is expected as I now use these gloves for DH/FR. I love the breathability and they have served me well on the chairlift runs. Since the fit for me was so spectacular, I am now giving Dakine Defenders a try for the added protection. All in all, the cross X gloves are the perfect all mountain glove and are not too hot, the terry cloth thumb is also invaluable, would buy again and at the Chainlove prices it is really hard to beat!

Great Gloves

By:
May 25, 2009

These are great gloves. Very comfortable, very breathable. I use these every MTB ride, and for all road bike races. I crashed in a RR this weekend, and these gloves saved my fingers from some nasty road rash. A few little holes were burned into the gloves, but my fingers were fine. I'll be looking for these to show up on sale again to pick up another set.

Bike Commuter recommends it, twice

By:

Forget the mountain biking. These gloves are better suited for inner city urban style riding. The full finger glove fits great, breathes great and provides the full hand protection if you have to slide out on your palms. The burly back of the hand protects my knuckles whether I am rapping on a window, or another's helmet. Hook and loop closure around the wirst can be left open for better breathe-ability, without sacrificing fit. The material drys quickly, which is important after a wet commute.

Good Glove

By:

Purchased the Cross X in spring '08. Ridden them exclusively for about a year and a half. Just starting to show wear on the seams in the last month. Would purchase them again

Never ride without 'em

By:

I'm all about these gloves. I have these gloves in a couple of different colors. When backcountry hooks it up with such great deals, I can't resist swooping up a few pair of these. They are light, breathe well, hold up to abuse, and have saved my digits from nasty Cholla cacti.

Durability Issues

By:
April 29, 2009

I bought a pair of these to replace my half finger gloves for mountain biking. I probably have 6 rides on them and they're already starting to fall apart! I haven't ridden in the rain/mud or even taken a fall with these on yet! I split my time about 50/50 freeride/ xc trails and there is no way these will ever go on a downhill/freeride run with me. My DH/Freeride Fox gloves have held up over 6 years of abuse in every kind of condition and saved my palms/hands multiple times. Next time I'll spend the extra $10-15 and get something that will last. Other than durability, these were the perfect lightweight glove that I was looking for.

Junk

By:
August 15, 2009

I purchased two pairs of these gloves here and they are junk. The fake leather on the fingers piles up and falls apart after a few short rides. I really like the fit and features and really wanted to like the gloves, but I would avoid them and look at the Fox Unabomber instead.

White/Green

By: Hucknroll.com Employee
April 20, 2009

This review is for the White/Green color, which is actually last year's version of these gloves. These are decent quality gloves. Nothing special, but not bad. A few things: One, the sizing chart is way off. I measured my hand repeatedly from base of hand to tip of middle finger, and it's around 7.5 inches. The chart says I'd be a size L, but actually the size small fits me perfectly. Two, the big vent looking thing on the back of the hand looks like it should be, well, a vent of some sort. But really it's just a solid piece of rubber. Could serve as extra protection I suppose, but otherwise pretty useless aside from looking kind of cool. Third, the velcro closure is pretty low quality. It still works, but you can tell they used a cheap velcro for it, and it may not last too long. The gloves look sweet though, and at this price, I don't really care how durable they are. Unless they completely fall apart, they'll still protect your hands from branches while you ride, or rocks when you fall.
