Exorcise your downhill and freeride demons with the confidence of full-face protection in the Giro Remedy Helmet. Tree branches and thorns get the brush-off, as do the grin-killing pebbles your bro tosses up in his rooster when you're bombing down the mountain at Mach 3. That said, you might never eat another mouthful of dust again, because the Remedy's faceplant insurance plan has a knack for helping you push yourself further and faster than ever.
Bottom Line: Giro provides the Remedy, to cure your fear of freeride annihilation and place you on the podium.
Very nice helmet for the money. Has saved my teeth/face on more than one occasion. Also mates up with Oakley O-Frames very nicely. Half-Jacket sunglasses, not so much. Doesn't obstruct breathing, but a bit warm to wear while climbing. The only complaint is the jack-in-the-box profile it can give you but, then again, it's not a $300+ TLD helmet.
Write your question here...I ordered a Remedy S fiberglass model that should arrive next week. I will be using this strictly for cross country. I live in southern Cal., where it is not too hot and not too cold. Will the Remedy provide adequate ventilation, and can I increase the circulation by leaving some of the pads out?
If your set on getting a full face helmet for cross-country I would definitely check out the helmets that specialized has"The Deviant" they come carbon or fiberglass but they sport 21 vents or something like that and are very light. Hope it works out
Stan, The Remedy full face helmet is not really considered a "cross country bike helmet". It is primarily designed for more of a gravity application. I would potentially suggest a non full face helmet for cross country mountain biking. A helmet like the Giro Zen or something similar.
Have had this helmet for a few weeks now, had trouble choosing between this and the fox DH but very happy with the remedy especially snatching it on sale. Ventilation is better than i thought it would be but can still get toasty. Great choice highly recommend!
I alwayzz though that zombies would be dead people, re-generated and walk with a limp. The last time I went to 32° 0' 0 N,40° 0' 0 E. They were large un-dead beasts I thought never to be in existence such as Griffin's, Centaurs and Nymphs. No limping from those guys either, those suckers move fast! I obviously escaped alive, you'll never guess what ended up killing them...Hair gel! whodathunkit?
Excellent comfort and protection for the price. Compared this to my buddies SixSixOne Evolution helmet and they are equal in weight but the Remedy takes the cake on comfort and price. If you are looking into getting a full face seriously consider picking this one up, you will not be disappointed.
What goggles work well with this helmet? I'm guessing Giro are best, but I'm a fan of Oakley after using their ski goggles. Anyone have trouble with Oakley goggles with this helmet?
Helmets look great, have amazing vision, very very light weight, can take impacts that you probably shouldn't be having and it fits very well as long as you get the right size ;)
Only took one run to realize this is a great helmet at a great price point. The field of vision is freaking awesome and the helmet is light enough to wear all day without fatigue.
I'd go with the medium. The remedy comes with some extra pads to take up any extra slack. I prefer a helmet with some extra padding rather than the other way around.
i was on the fence with this one or the carbon fiber model. I'm glad i went for this one because it really doesnt weigh that much and its a nice snug fit. I think Giro's helmets are top notch and they always fit me great.
fair helmet for a fair price. the liner could be better, (it's a little scratchy ), visor needs to be more adjustable. and the padding could be a little thicker to make it a little more comfy for longer trails.
Got to love this helmet! Fits perfect, I have a med. It has a nice big and open view so your vision is still there. It will fit most/any goggles i use spy, Oakley, rockgardn.
Its Light! Cool Looking! Great Fit! Awesome Price!
This is my first full face helmet and after a couple uses, I have no complaints. Looked around and tried on quite a few before purchasing. I have a pretty normal size head and face it fits me really well. Some of the other mediums were pretty tight. You won't be disappointed with this!
I haven't wreck with this helmet yet, but it fits great! It has great vision and is way lighter than I thought it was going to be. I got the Cityscape and the graphics look awsome in person! I totally recommend this helmet.
I'v crashed many of times riding Whistler. Landed on my face a fair bit lol. and would recommend this lid to anyone looking for affordable, decent looking, protection. My 4 yr old fits a adult small and took a shot to the face on his first run down easy does it and he got up fine with no dental work needed.... A +++++ bargain
A Giro remedy is on my husbands Christmas list and there seems to be several types out there - S, Zombie, composite, carbon etc. What's the difference?
There are basically 2 types of Giro Remedy helmet. The "regular" and the CF. The Cf is made of carbon fiber, thus being twice as much, but 5 oz less heavy. I can't say that 5 oz, will make a big difference overall - personally I think most carbon fiber equipment is made mostly for racers and a little bit of overkill for the average rider, but to each his own. I will say this, I like the remedy much better than the Six Six One full-face helmets.
Good price, fits well. I usually wear a large helment (ie in the Giro Hex, Giro G10MX ski helmet, etc), and I got a medium in the Remedy and it fits real snug and secure on my head. The cityscape graphics are sick, and the field of vision is pretty good, too. Seems better than on the 661s. It is pretty toasty, true, but I wouldn't say this is a deal breaker for me. 4 stars just because it lacks that X factor to make it a truly incredible product.
I bought this after a friend had a face plant that ended up breaking every bone in his face. This makes me feel safe, although it has not yet been put to the ultimate test--that is, I haven't fallen on my head or face yet. It also looks good, and is light for the protection it gives. I recommend it highly.
Reasonably light, tough, affordable, and you can take out the liners to wash them, which is crucial since NO full-face is really all that cool in 85-degree heat. Makes me feel safe and keeps the branches out of my grill without obstructing my vision. Sized a bit big so if you usually take a Large I would suggest a Medium instead.
I am no down hill phenom and my crashes prove it making me appreciate this full face helmet even more. My teeth and side of my head are grateful. Great fit. Ventilation is not bad for a full face helmet. Does what it should.
The Giro Remedy is an awesome full face helmet - it's lighter than expected, very comfortable, breathable and does not obstruct the rider's vision on trail. Between my Giro Hex and this Remedy, I trust Giro to keep my dome in one piece - Giro really has the bike helmet biz dialed-in. The Remedy is of course a perfect choice for riding any downhill/freeride trails; however, because of it's light weight and great venting it is also my choice for those rides when I'm not sure how burly the trail is going to be...when in doubt, I break the Remedy out. The sizing chart on this page should be utilized to ensure you order the correct size - that said, I was on the boarder between a med and large and dropped down to the Medium. It was a bit tight at first, but once the padding packed-out a little (1 day wearing it), it fits perfectly.
This helmet has a nice comfortable fit. I wear a 7/12 - 7/58 fitted hat and I picked up the large in this helmet. It is slightly more on the loose side, but the medium was definitely too small. I feel safe in it and have gone over the handle bars a few times since I picked it up. A few scratches to the brain-bucket, but no scratches to the brain. I grabbed the matte black finish and it has a low profile and is understated.
